Be envied, not envious

Simon Sinek says we should all start with why. At Pivot, our why – that is, why we exist – is “to make work not suck,” or put more positively (this is for you Phil) “to make business personal.” Because the best businesses ARE personal and most businesses that take a personal interest in their people don’t suck. You see how that all hangs together, right?

Want to be envied by, rather than envious of your friends, partners or competitors in the coming year? Start by taking your work more personally. Because there’s nothing more meaningful to thoughtful, caring colleagues (the kind that help make your business successful, by the way) than to be cared for and connected to their employers.
